From 21 to 28 October 2026, at the Dream House on the Greek island of Rhodes, Dutch ceramicist Gudrun Wilsterman leads a seven-night beginners' ceramics retreat built around wheel throwing. Days start with an optional gentle yoga class at seven, then move into the studio from nine until half past two with a break for lunch. The class covers the basics: kneading, centring, pulling, turning and drying, working toward cylinders, bowls and simple decorated forms. Studio time reopens in the late afternoon for anyone wanting extra time at the wheel before dinner. Meals are full-board vegetarian using organic ingredients where possible, taken at the house with wine at dinner, plus one restaurant meal in the village. One organised excursion during the week takes in a walk, museum visit, mini-safari or beach afternoon, and firing and glazing of up to three kilos of finished work per guest is included. Gudrun Wilsterman is a Dutch ceramicist who runs Ceramicaza with year-round pottery courses out of studios in the Netherlands and on the Greek island of Rhodes. She specialises in teaching beginners and intermediate throwers, with a direct, clear approach to centring and the basics that gets most students to first-time centring within their first session.
