From 17 to 27 February 2027, at Casa Buena in the small Pacific-coast village of Los Cocos in Nayarit, Polish-Canadian painter Dominik Modlinski leads a ten-day oil painting workshop for Casa Buena Art Retreat. The programme opens in Puerto Vallarta with a gallery walk and dinner before the group makes the three-hour scenic drive north, stopping at La Peñita's art market on the way in. Working days move through Dominik's technique-based programme: mark-making exercises as the foundation, colour mixing from the three primaries, contrast principles and direct brushwork toward the spontaneous reactions that mark out an individual painter's approach. A jungle plein air excursion to Las Islitas beach falls mid-week; a day off in San Blas gives guests time to explore and shop. Oil is the primary medium and acrylic painters are welcome to bring their own. All meals, transfers, entertainment and the field trip are included. Leader Bio

Dominik Modlinski is a Polish-born Canadian painter (Ontario College of Art, honours) whose plein air landscape work draws on painting journeys across Antarctica, the High Arctic, Greenland, Patagonia, Namibia, South Africa, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. He is represented by galleries across Canada and the USA, lives and paints in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, and holds a 6th degree black belt in Karate as his other lifelong practice.
