From 8 to 12 October 2026, in the medieval village of Monsaraz in southern Portugal's Alentejo, Paris-based illustrator Cosima Delamare leads a four-night retreat on expressive mixed media and visual storytelling. Three full studio days at Sofia in Monsaraz move through the stages of an editorial illustrator's process: reading a brief, visual research, sketch proposals, and the development of a single finished image. Cosima draws on her own work for French Marie Claire and other titles, along with the editorial work of other illustrators, to widen the group's visual vocabulary; composition tools including scale, contrast, value, and line and gesture are covered through the week. Around the studio sits a morning of yoga, a visit to the Fabricaal rug factory for colour inspiration, olive oil and wine tastings, and dinners within the walls of Monsaraz Castle. Leader Bio

Cosima Delamare is a Paris-based illustrator whose editorial work appears in French Marie Claire (where she was artist in residence) and other publications, with brand commissions from FIRN and No7. Trained at École Estienne and shaped by years as an art director at Stylist magazine, she works in coloured pencil and graphite with a soft, painterly quality.
