From 16 to 23 June 2027, in a four-star chalet hotel an hour outside Geneva with Mont Blanc on the horizon, American watercolourist Geoffrey Allen leads a week of plein air painting through Haute-Savoie. The itinerary moves between days at the hotel terrace and excursions to Megève, the lakeside town of Annecy with its canals and the Palais de l'Île, an alpine village of wooden chalets and Baroque churches, and the resort of Chamonix at the foot of Mont Blanc. Painting sessions run morning and afternoon with Geoff's emphasis on watercolour handling, colour mixing and a three-layer light-to-dark approach; gouache is welcome as a complement. The hotel keeps a pool, sauna and hot tub for the gap between sessions, and dinners run to fondue and local Savoie wines. Group size is 8 to 14, picked up and dropped off at Geneva airport. Painting supplies are on the guest.

Leader Bio

Geoffrey Allen is a watercolour painter with an MFA from Claremont Graduate University, twenty years of full-time studio and illustration practice, and teaching posts across several Los Angeles colleges. He is a regular on the US plein air circuit, with Award of Excellence at the Laguna Plein Air Invitational and First Place at the Sonoma Plein Air Festival among his wins.
