September 14 - 18 2026, on the beautiful South Shore of Nova Scotia. This five day outdoor painting workshop offers participants the opportunity to paint in some of Nova Scotia's most picturesque coastal locations, including the UNESCO World Heritage town of Lunenburg, the fishing village of Blue Rocks, LaHave River vistas, and the Petite Riviere Vineyards. Under the guidance of portrait and landscape artist James Middleton, participants learn to see like an artist through demonstrations, personal instruction, and positive critiques. The workshop emphasises understanding values, edges, colour temperatures, and composition through targeted exercises that isolate different aspects of painting. Days include demonstrations at each location, encouragement, and time to absorb the warm hospitality and spectacular scenery of the Bluenose Coast.
