Each participant will receive a blank journal to document observations, reflections, natural treasures, insights, and develop a deeper appreciation for the park's natural surroundings. Alongside wild journaling, we will experiment with air-dry clay to create personal sculptures and preserve botanical samples collected on walks using cyanotype printmaking. We will explore various local environments, from village centers and markets to serene pastures where only the sound of sheep bells can be heard. We will traverse old paths, hopefully enjoy some wild swimming, and seek out beauty everywhere. Reconnect with a sense of wonder and appreciation for the slow, simple life and surroundings here. Enjoy the company of other women and savor some of the delightful food and wine from this region. This gathering promises to be a sensory feast while offering a quieter, less hectic experience. It is open to anyone curious about art and nature, regardless of their art-making experience. Bookings are taken in Euros. Converted USD price is approximate, check with host for final pricing and room options.

Leader Bio
Heidi: In my early 40s I dismantled my life as a professor, wife, and artist living in Portland, Oregon and eventually moved to Portugal alone to become a first generation immigrant, massage therapist, and enthusiastic gardener on my own farm in the interior of the country. These huge changes occurred during a time when I was already experiencing perimenopause symptoms and soon I found myself alone in a new country with no access to familiar support systems and about to head into a global pandemic. I was starved for community and spaces where I could speak honestly and openly about my experience and the challenges I was facing. As I began to share with other women I quickly learned that I wasn't the only one with this deep craving for connection, support, and answers to many questions. I wrote and spoke out about my own experience of crushing fatigue, mood swings, brain fog, dismissive doctors, and other lonely and debilitating difficulties. And through this, other women began to reflect my stories back to me, to express their tremendous relief at finding others going through similar changes, and to give voice to their unique experiences. Eventually a small book club formed online and we began to read, discuss, and try to embody books about perimenopause, feminism, female empowerment, pleasure, sexuality, power dynamics, faith, and more. From this came a small, private Facebook group where women from various corners of the world gather to share stories, articles, inspiring quotes, resources, and most importantly words of empathy and support. Years later we are meeting regularly online and for the first time in 2025 I will begin hosting in person gatherings here in Portugal. In addition to my work with women, I also practice massage therapy, teach movement classes, mentor younger people and enjoy a variety of creative outlets such as writing, clay sculpture, cyanotype printing, painting, and more.
